We are excited to launch our Kesher Kids Pilot Program which is aimed at providing project-based, informal learning in an intimate at-home setting!
WHO: School-aged kids from K-7 being taught by a stellar collection of teachers who will engage, nourish and support them
WHAT: A Jewish education pilot program which is project-based/experiential, engaging, exciting and connective. Curriculum will focus on Jewish values, practices and rhythms in age-appropriate ways, through story, craft, music, nature, writing and more!
One day per week after school for 2 hours of student-centred learning with classes of approx. 8 children (grouped by grade, with classes for K, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7). Seventh Grade students will also have the opportunity to work/play/learn one-on-one with Keshira (and a Hebrew tutor as needed) in preparation for their mitzvahnitiation. 4th/5th grade class will be gathering on Thursdays at 5:30pm in Regent Square
Kabbalat Shabbat one Friday per month (during most months) for the entire family
Gathering one weekend afternoon per month for family education and community-building around a Jewish theme; these sessions will be led by Keshira and others with particular expertise.
WHERE: We propose that each class meet in a family's home, with that family committing to host for either a term or for the whole year.
WHY: Because Jewish education is fundamental to strong identity formation and to integrating of Jewish practice into our day-to-day lives. And because by learning/celebrating/being together, we strengthen our connection as a community.
